There will be a Q&A session at the end of the presentations.
This is a free public event. Attendees will need MS Teams to join this webinar.

This webinar has been designed to give some space to the topic of addiction which, like many other issues, has risen more to the surface during the Covid-19 Pandemic. MyMind’s John O’Donoghue will give an overview of addiction, the signs, the harm caused and how to deal with it. Keith Cassidy from Smarmore Castle Clinic will talk about the treatment programme available at Smarmore and also about his own personal experience of recovery from addiction.

It is well known now that the Covid-19 pandemic has created a great deal of additional anxiety and stress for most of us. Dealing with Covid has been particularly challenging for people who have already been dealing with poor mental health, but has also affected those who have usually been able to maintain reasonably good mental health. There have been reported increases in depression, loneliness, stress, and addiction as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic. But there is a lot of support available.

MyMind Centre for Mental Wellbeing is currently providing free online counselling services to people who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic whether it's through bereavement, job loss, increased anxiety or depression, or addiction. Support is provided by a team of qualified mental health professionals, and all sessions are held in strict confidence through MyMind's own online platform.

Smarmore Castle Private Clinic is a residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic that treats alcoholism, drug and gambling addiction. Its aim is to help patients achieve abstinence through an intensive, personalised programme that follows the 12 Steps, provides detox and medical treatment, psychotherapy and complementary therapies. Smarmore residential rehab clinic offers the clinical excellence and specialist treatment experience for which our founding clinic — Castle Craig, in Scotland — is renowned. The addiction treatment programme has been carefully constructed with over 30 years’ practical and professional experience. Smarmore treats addiction as a disease of the brain and evidence shows that abstinence is essential for an optimal and long-lasting recovery.

Please join us on Monday May 24 at 1pm.
