About me:
Stephen holds an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy with a person-centred approach. He has extensive experience working with people since 2009, using various modalities.
His approach helps the person explore themselves and trust the process of finding the answers they need. Through listening to thoughts, feelings, and sensations a person can develop a high level of trust that they can solve their own problems. Stephen believes that the therapeutic relationship is fundamental to the client's healing. Once there is plenty of empathy, positive regard, and honesty present between the therapist and client a natural opening occurs.
Stephen is a pre-accredited therapist with APCP and follows a comprehensive code of ethics when working with his clients. He also attends regular supervision to monitor his work with clients and ensure they are getting the best possible service available to them.
Stephen is a trained Feldenkrais teacher, Focusing practitioner, and acupuncturist and has worked with people with many types of issues and illnesses including physical disabilities, autoimmune conditions, and mental illness. As well as using Person-Centred Theory he sometimes incorporates different somatic approaches to best suit the client’s needs.
