About me:
Sheena’s psychotherapeutic approach is mainly holistic and integrative style, with a grounding in the person-centred approach. This approach is based on the belief that people are the experts in their own lives. By providing the right conditions, they can find their way to their own healing, purpose and self-acceptance in order to direct their own lives. She believes each client is unique and presents with a unique experience of their lives. She tailor makes each therapy to suit the individual needs of her clients and uses a range of therapeutic modalities to ensure the client has the best possible outcome from their therapy. As well as the Person-Centred approach, Sheena also employs other modalities such as Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
Since qualifying, Sheena has provided face to face, and online, counselling with clients from diverse backgrounds, presenting with a range of issues. Sheena’s goal for her clients is that they experience a safe, confidential and non-judgemental therapeutic space where they can explore any issues that may arise in their lives. By providing this space, Sheena believes that clients can develop better relationships with themselves and others.
Sheena holds a B.A. in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy (ICPPD), as well as a H. Dip. in Psychology Conversion (NUIG) and a B.A. in Psychology and Classics (NUIG). She also worked for many years in the social care sector, which has given her a unique insight into the challenges that many people face.
