About me:

Samantha is a Creative Arts Therapist and fully accredited member of IACAT, having received her MA in Art Therapy from Munster Technological University in 2022, graduating with first-class honors.

As an Art Therapist, Samantha works from a Person-Centred approach, believing that people have an innate drive toward growth and healing when in a supportive and non-judgemental atmosphere. This means that in a typical session, clients choose from a wide range of art materials what they would like to use and to express. The work created in therapy may serve as a starting point for reflection and help provide clients with insight into their own struggles. This is a gentle yet effective approach which may be especially beneficial for people who find it challenging to verbalize their feelings and difficulties.

Prior to qualifying as an art therapist, Samantha worked as an educator and arts facilitator with marginalized adolescents and adults in alternative education in Cork City. As an art therapist, she has experience working individually and in group settings with children, adolescents and adults experiencing a range of issues such as anxiety, bereavement, dementia, ASD, intellectual disability, psychosis, among others. She adheres to the IACAT Code of Ethics and regularly undertakes professional development training in order to help expand her range of knowledge and to provide the best possible care for her clients.
