About me:

Ray Sydner (She/Her) is a Dublin-based qualified Psychotherapist who specializes in the following areas; LGBTQIA+ community, addiction counselling and recovery from Narcissistic relationships. Being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community she understand the difficulties that can come from navigating through everyday life.

Ray is a graduate of PCI College and has a Masters in Psychotherapy and Addiction Counselling. She strives to provide a comfortable and supportive atmosphere of mutual respect, where clients may express themselves openly and be sure of an empathetic and non-judgmental response. Her approach is ‘integrative’ – which means she draws on a background of different therapies (including CBT and Person-Centered), recognizing that no single form of therapy is best in all situations for all clients and that each one of the many approaches to therapy has value.

In this way, the sessions are flexible and may be tailored in a way that is most appropriate for each individual client, depending on their particular needs and goals. Ray has considerable experience in assisting clients to address and resolve specific problems such as; coping with crises, dealing with work-related stress, improving and maintaining healthy self-esteem, developing and maintaining healthy relationships and in general, continuing their journey of personal growth.

Issues that she has helped clients with will include, but are not limited to:

Addiction, Recovery and coping with a loved one’s addiction
LGBTQIA+ community
Sexuality
Autism and Neurodiversity
Narcissistic Abusive relationship recovery
Family related problems
Relationship issues and Separation
Stress & Low mood
Personal Development and Awareness
Health issues including Fertility
Grief & Loss
Trauma

Ray has extensive knowledge in the area of addiction having worked in the USA 2022/23, to gain hands on practical experience working with substance misusers and their families in the area of recovery for all. Ray is also linked in with treatment centers that specialize in the treatment of addictions. Ray says ‘being a member of AL-ANON, I understand the impact and implications of addiction on the person themselves, their family and those around them who are all negatively affected by substance misuse and are looking for support. It is about unlocking the potential of positive change for individuals and/or family members affected by substance misuse and addiction’.

Ray also continues her personal and professional development by engaging in Personal Therapy and Professional Supervision on an ongoing basis. Ray has a strong interest in education and skill development and when not working she enjoys walking, theatre and spending quality time with family and friends.
