About me:

Training to be a Humanistic Integrative therapist Micheál has a theoretical grounding in Person-Centered Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Existential Therapy. He believes that the client is the expert on their own lives and during the therapy session Micheál aims to create a welcoming, safe, understanding, and non-judgmental space for clients to explore what is happening for them and find contentment in the present moment.

Micheál facilitates an environment for clients to explore their feelings and make sense of their experience in the “here and now”. He places attention on the quality of the therapeutic relationship as he believes it is the vessel for which change and growth can occur for clients.

Micheál Canty is a senior student at Cork Counselling Services Training Institute and coming to the end of a four-year BSc (Hons) degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy. Micheál works in accordance with and adheres to the IACP's (Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)code of ethics.
