About me:
Martin first obtained a professional Diploma in Counselling in 2003 with Northside Counselling Service, a voluntary counselling service in North Dublin. He worked there for a number of years as a voluntary counsellor before moving into private practice. Martin upgraded his qualification in 2010 to a B.Sc in Counselling and Psychotherapy with PCI College, Dublin. He has also been a Registered Nurse (Intellectual Disability) , i.e. RNID for the past 35 years.
Martin's core approach to therapy is Person Centred, Humanistic while incorporating aspects of other approaches such as Gestalt and Mindfulness. Martin sees counselling and psychotherapy as a safe space where the client can be heard in a non-judgemental way. This helps the client to look at what is working well in their life and what needs to change. With a clearer understanding of the difficulties and challenge's they face, the client is in a better place to make decisions around change. Martin takes the approach that the client holds the answers to their difficulties and that his role is to use his skills and experience to support and guide the client through the process of change.
