Linda’s approach to Psychotherapy is Humanistic and Integrative. Humanistic in terms of being non-directive and person-centred with an emphasis on self-acceptance and personal growth. Integrative in that Linda uses a variety of orientations and therapies tailored to suit the individual needs of the client

Linda has also participated in workshops on Multiculturalism, Sexuality and Intimacy, Understanding Sex Addiction, Contemporary Challenges for Women and Addiction.

Linda is a fully accrediated member of the Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) and adheres to their code of ethics. She attends regular Supervision providing Linda with the opportunity to explore her work practice, monitor the quality of her client work and to develop professionally and personally thus ensuring the highest standard in her work.

She is available for short term and long term work and works with adults and couples

In her practice Linda utilises a range of approaches including Psychodynamic which can create a new self-awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on present behaviour, Gestalt helping clients focus on the present and understand what is really happing in their lives right now and Cognitive Behavioural Theraphy (CBT) which focuses on solutions, encouring clients to challenge distorted thought patterns and change destructive patterns of behaviour. Linda also uses creative approaches involving the use of art, music and drama to improve a person’s physical, mental and emotional well being. Linda applies the Gottman Method as an approach to couples therapy, integrating research-based interventions which aim to help couples recognise distressing relationship cycles, expand emotional responses and initiate new patterns of connecting and relating that are more beneficial for the relationship

Linda has extensive experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds within the Dublin area having worked for over 4 years in the Oasis Centre in Dublin City, Darndale Community Centre and 18 months in the Remedy Clinic, providing therapy to individuals suffering from bereavement, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, addiction and relationship difficulties.

Fundamentally, Linda believes that the relationship between Therapist and client is key for effective therapy and is influenced by the works of Carl Rogers who writes "It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried... the gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another.”
