About me:

Approaches: Integrative and Humanistic

James O’Regan is a fully accredited therapist. In 2016 he successfully completed an honours degree in counselling and psychotherapy with the Irish College of Humanities and Applied Sciences. James also has a (BBS) (Hons) (I.P.A) from the Limerick Institute of Technology. Since May 2016 James has worked, as a counsellor, with MyMind, and he also works part-time as a professional carer for the elderly. Since 2010 James has been a listening volunteer with the Samaritans providing emotional support for vulnerable and emotionally distressed people.

James has an Integrative and Humanistic approach where the therapeutic relationship (person-centred therapy) is central. Guided by existential philosophical values, James is primarily concerned with understanding the subjective world of his client and to help the become more self-aware with new understandings and options. James believes there is no single therapy that suits every client in every differing situation. People are unique and so are their circumstances. Depending on the client’s needs and preferences James would tailor an integrative use of various therapies such as Mindfulness, CBT/REBT Gestalt (roleplay), or just general Psycho-education into his therapy.
