Deirdre is a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a person-centred and humanistic training. She trained at Cork Institute of Technology and is a fully accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (I.A.C.P.). Deirdre follows strict code of ethics and attends regular supervision to support her work. Deirdre is available for both short-term, solution-focused and long-term client work on a one to one basis with adults. She uses a person-centered and integrative approach in her work with clients which includes Family Systems, Transactional Analysis (TA), Gestalt, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Deirdre has worked with MyMind since 2017. She focuses on creating a safe and trusting space for her clients to explore issues. She believes that each client has the capacity and strength to understand and resolve their issues when properly supported. She believes the mutually developed therapeutic relationship is a key component of this support. By being non-judgmental, empathetic and by actively listening to her clients Deirdre provides the conditions necessary to develop this relationship.
