Approach: Integrative and Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy
Níall McGuire holds a B.A. (HONS) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Cork Institute of Technology. This course is approved by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) of which Níall is a member. Níall also holds qualifications in Psychology and Mental Health from University College Cork.
Níall uses a person-centred and integrative approach in his work and believes that creating a safe and trusting space for his clients is of the utmost importance thus enabling his clients to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours that affect their lives in a negative way. By providing this safe and supportive space, clients can explore, understand and often change these thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviours. Níall trusts the process that by bringing these issues into awareness, change can happen.
As every client is unique, so too is their journey.
He believes by being non-judgemental, empathic and fully present to his clients that this provides the necessary conditions to develop an effective therapeutic relationship.
Níall offers a number of different approaches in his work with clients including Person Centred Approach, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis (TA), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness and Art therapy. Níall abides by the Code of Ethics as laid down by MyMind and the IACP and attends Supervision on a regular basis.
