About me:
Approaches: Person – Person-Centred, Existential, Psychoanalytic
Mary completed the four-year training in psychotherapy at the Bowlby Centre for Attachment-Based Psychotherapy, London, with clinical placements in two different centres. She subsequently studied for an MSc in Existential Psychotherapy and then for a Graduate Diploma in the Person-Centred approach.
She takes an integrative approach to working with clients, incorporating and drawing on relevant aspects of different theories. This approach allows her to be flexible and to attune to the needs of individual clients as client and therapist work on building the therapeutic relationship together.
As a former teacher, she understands the importance of a climate of empathy, non-judgement and understanding for learning, including learning about oneself. She helps clients to work towards reaching their potential within the four dimensions of their lives: physical, social, emotional and spiritual. She believes in client’s freedom to choose and she supports those who are struggling to make healthy life choices within a wide range of psychological and behavioral issues.
She is a member of IACP and adheres to their code of ethics. She continues to expand her knowledge and meets professional requirements through annual CPD conferences and workshops.
