About me:

Qualifications; Degree in Counselling Skills & Psychotherapy Studies, MA in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), BA & Higher Diploma in Education My primary degree in counselling was entitled ‘Counselling Skills and Psychotherapy Studies’. The core approach of of this course was ‘Person Centred Therapy’ but included modules in other approaches such as Adlerian, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural, Psychodynamic and Narrative Therapy. Having completed the degree programme I pursued a Master’s Degree in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I am a fully accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). My work includes short term, solution focused work or longer term therapy as required. I have been working in the area of Employment Assistance Programmes since 2016. Since 2008 I have supported clients with a wide range of issues including anxiety, panic, depression, relationship difficulties, family problems, sexual violence and abuse, eating disorders and workplace concerns. In my work with clients my therapeutic approach is dependent upon each client’s individual needs and presenting issue. I find that Cognitive Behavioural therapy is very helpful for clients struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, addictions and obsessive compulsive disorder amongst others. This might involve using strategies such as Imaginal Exposure, Cognitive Restructuring, Visualization, Relaxation Techniques and others. Some issues, such as Relationship difficulties, family problems, sexual orientation or workplace concerns might require a more exploratory Person Centred approach initially with the integration of CBT, Inner Child work or other approaches as appropriate. I work with individuals and couples, ages 18 years and over.
