Karen has an extensive career helping people within the healthcare setting. She has a keen interest in supporting those struggling with mental health issues. Karen has a degree in psychology and is in her final year of the B.A. (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy at Cork Institute of Technology. This course is approved by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), of which Karen is a student member. She has also completed the safeTALK course and the ASIST course to become a suicide-alert helper.
Karen uses a person-centred and integrated approach in her work, creating a safe, and trusting space for her clients to explore their difficulties. Being non-judgmental, empathic and present to her clients is her core value, supporting development of a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients. Karen uses bodywork and meditation to help clients on their healing journey.
Karen integrates Person Centred Approach, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis (TA), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and compassion focussed mindfulness.
