About me:

Following her retirement from midwifery, where Helena supported more than 1000 women and families clinically and emotionally throughout their transition in pregnancy, birth, and in the first year of the child, Helena completed her BA in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy here in Ireland and an MSc in Psychotherapy Studies from an existential angle at the NSCP, London.

Helena offers integrative, humanistic, existential and systemic based talk therapy while coming from a holistic body-centred approach that is based on Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Brainspotting and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR). Brainspooting, developed by Dr David Grand and DBR, developed by the Scottish psychiatrist Dr Frank Corrigan, are both body-centred methods to consolidate traumatic memory. The deep understanding of trauma focussed work developed by Janina Fisher is equally a cornerstone in Helenas' clinical work.

Coming from a medical background, she has always been curious about our biological foundations and has studied Autism at UCC to better understand our differences of our neurobiological foundations. Through her additional intensive training to become a trauma specialist, she also has studied the wide field that the current brain science of neurobiology and neuropsychology has brought to the work in psychotherapy within the past 15 years. All these theoretical studies have enriched and supported her practice in psychotherapy and therefore the clients she has the honour to work with.
