Gráinne is an art psychotherapist, trained to masters level (NFQ Level) and is a fully-accredited member of the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists (IACAT) and adheres to IACAT’s codes and ethics. She has clinical experience working with adults, adolescents and children in various settings including mental health, education and special education needs.
In working with clients, Gráinne aims to create a safe space for each client to reflect on and explore their inner world. Her practice is based on trust, respect, and unconditional positive regard of the client. Under these conditions, the client is supported to safely explore thoughts and emotions, and to be witnessed as they do so.
Using art-making and the creative process, Gráinne will assist the client in recognising and building on their own inherent resources, to grow resilience and support a better sense of groundedness. No previous experience of art-making is necessary.
Gráinne’s practice is person-centred and grounded in attachment theory and trauma awareness including the neurophysiology of trauma and Polyvagal Theory.
