Eamon McDermott is Counsellor and Psychotherapist who finished his studies in Griffith College, in a course backed and run by the Irish College of Humanities and Applied Sciences (ICHAS). Throughout the course of his studies, he has come to admire the works of Carl Rogers and the humanistic school of thought. As in the humanistic school, he places the client at the centre of the therapy. Eamon believes that the client is the expert in their own lives and that he is merely there to facilitate the client in increasing their own awareness. Eamon believes that by increasing this awareness one can help deal with anxiety, stress and relationship issues for a start. To this end, Eamon also employs techniques from Gestalt and Transactional Analysis to increase awareness, to help see a bigger picture about oneself. At the core of Eamon’s beliefs, however, is that above all the client must feel empathy, must feel safe and must feel supported.
