About me:

Approach: Caroline's approach to therapy is person-centred and integrative drawing from gestalt, IFS (internal family systems), CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and TA (transactional analysis), to meet the individual needs of the client. Caroline also focus's on mindfulness and the body process and believes by listening deeply to our bodies, behind our thoughts and feelings, we can access a felt sense that can help us to articulate, as yet, an unconscious knowing.

Qualification: Caroline has an established background in Community Nursing, registered with An Bord Altranais. Her role is varied encompassing general, psychiatric and palliative care. Caroline places special emphasis on promoting health and well-being, and empowerment of her clients through collaborative decision making, encouraging self-care and personal responsibility. Caroline is currently completing a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy in CIT and is affiliated with IACP (Irish Association for counselling and psychotherapy).

Caroline believes that counselling provides a confidential and safe platform for an individual to come and talk about their problems, issues or worries in a non-judgemental, unbiased and caring environment. Caroline provides a place of compassion and fundamentally believes in the healing power of the client-therapist relationship as it supports and influences the therapeutic process. Fostering trust and safety facilitates clients to become more aware of themselves and the impact negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviours can have on their lives. Caroline believes therapy to be a collaborative effort and her focus is on enabling individuals to explore alternative healthy choices thus empowering them to make positive changes.

For the past 10 months Caroline has been on placement with a cancer support group working with clients who are experiencing bereavement, loss, and facilitate individuals in their adjustment to life as a survivor. She haa also completed the safeTALK course.
