Anna Ibars Verdaguer holds an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology from Universitat Ramon Llull (Spain) and a Master’s Degree in Clinical and Health Psychology from University of Barcelona. She is a Graduate member of the Psychological Society of Ireland and she attends regular supervision as part of her professional work. She initially practiced in Spain at a public Children and Adolescent Mental Health Center. Thereafter she practiced primarily as a self-employed child and family psychologist. Alongside her clinical practice she spent five years as research psychologist in the area of stress, somatization and adaptation disorders. In the last two years she has focused her work on individual counselling for adults. Anna values her continued professional development, reads widely in her field and attends ongoing education. She works from a humanistic-integrative, emotion focused and attachment-theory approach. She believes that everybody has the potential to overcome their own life difficulties, healing and growing through them. She sees her main job as helping clients to clarify issues, gain perspective, develop self- awareness, and find their own resources to consider and implement choices which promote healing and well-being. She strives to provide this within a safe, sincere and non-judgmental environment where her clients can feel understood and free to express themselves.
