It is Alan’s belief that young people have the inherent capacity to work through issues in their life and develop and grow when the right environment is provided. In helping children and young people to tell their stories Alan provides a client-centred, non-judgemental approach and employs a variety of creative techniques, which allows for many presenting issues to be explored and worked through. Art therapy, play therapy and sand tray therapy are some of the creative media Alan utilises to support the young person and help them to share their story.
Alan’s main focus is on building a relationship with the young person and providing a warm and safe place for the young person to explore their world with compassion and empathic understanding, meeting them precisely where they are at in their lives. Alan’s integrative approach combines gestalt, pscho dynamic and solution focused theories allowing for insight, growth, healing and change to take place.
Some of the presenting issues that Alan works with are:
● Communication Issues
● Personal Development
● Relationship issues
