Áine holds a BA (Honours) Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy having completed a
four year professional training course in Cork Institute of Technology (CIT). She has been
working in private practice since 2016.
Áine is qualified in humanistic and integrative psychotherapy. She uses a humanistic person-
centred and integrative approach which includes Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioural
Therapy (CBT), Gestalt, Transactional Analysis (TA) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to fit
with each clients changing needs. If appropriate Áine uses Somatic Experiencing (SE) and
Mindfulness to help regulate clients nervous system to regain a sense of safety.
Unresolved childhood experiences can continue to influence our lives today, shaping how
we think, feel and behave. Áine offers a safe and trusting space for clients to explore issues.
She aims, through the therapeutic work, to bring unresolved and fragmented beliefs,
feelings, and behaviours into awareness. With this new awareness, Aine supports clients to
build resilience and resources to help function more wholly in life today.
Currently Áine is a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and
Psychotherapy (IACP) and abides by their professional and ethical code of conduct in line
with best practices in the area of counselling and psychotherapy. She attends regular
supervision to support her work. Áine is available for both short term and long term work.
