Qualifications: MA in Counselling & Psychotherapy, BA in Psychology and Religion & Global Diversity
Approach: Integrative and person-centered.
Sinead Russell uses an integrative and person-centered approach to therapy. She believes not every client is the same therefore each client should have therapy tailored to them. This allows each client individually to grow with the right support and approach to suit their needs. Sinead believes that one of the most important things in therapy is that the client feels safe, protected, relaxed in a calm, open, safe environment where they trust and have a good therapeutic relationship with the therapist. As part of her person-centered approach she uses three core beliefs; empathy (deep understanding), unconditional positive regard (acceptance) and congruence (genuineness) with all of her clients. She truly focuses on having a strong and positive therapeutic relationship with her clients so they feel comfortable, safe and free to discuss any topic or matter with her. She focuses on helping the client develop certain life skills which will help the client deal with any obstacle in the present and in the future.
Sinead is set on continuing with further education throughout her career. Sinead has completed both levels 1 and 2 of the Gottman Method Couples Therapy Clinical Training. She has also completed the safeTALK course and the ASIST course to become a suicide-alert helper. She is a fully accredited member of the accrediting body – Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Ireland.
