Approaches: Art Therapy, Humanistic
Síle is a qualified Art Therapist with a MA in Art Therapy from Crawford College of Art and Design, and Cork Institute of Technology. She is professionally registered with Irish Association of Creative Art Therapists (IACAT) and adheres to it’s code of ethics and standards. She has also completed Advanced Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
Síle has over 20 years experience of working with children and young people with a broad range of needs.
Using humanistic theory, Síle focuses on each individual’s unique strengths. This person-centered and empathetic approach allows for a process of discovery which is achieved through the use of art materials and the therapeutic relationship. This ‘colourful language’ allows a free and freeing expression in a safe space.
While art therapy is often associated with children and young people, many adults who find language a barrier choose it as their preferred medium. For many, art therapy brings another dimension beyond words.
