Alan is available to work with Children & Adolescent aged from 7 -16 years of age on both short and long term basis.
It is Alan’s belief that young people have the inherent capacity to develop and grow and make changes in their life when the right environment is provided. In helping children and young people to tell their stories Alan provides a client centred, non-judgemental approach and employs a variety of creative techniques, which allows for many presenting issues to be explored and worked through. Art therapy, play therapy and sand tray therapy are some of the creative media Alan utilises to support the young person and help them to share their story.
Alan’s main focus is on building a relationship with the young person and providing a warm and safe place for the client to explore their world with compassion and empathic understanding, meeting them precisely where they are at in their lives. Alan’s integrative approach combines gestalt theories as well as behaviour therapies allowing for insight, growth, healing and change to take place.
Some of the presenting issues that Alan works with are:
- social difficulties,
- family issues,
- behavioural problems,
- acting out,
- low self-esteem
- family dynamics
