Áine O’Connor has a bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She is currently a student in the Irish College of Humanities & Applied Sciences (ICHAS) where she is completing her Masters in Counselling & Psychotherapy. She is a trainee counsellor who adopts a humanistic approach to therapy.
Áine believes that the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client is integral to positive therapeutic outcomes. She sees the therapist and client as equals and her role is to simply listen and provide support for the client. Her aim is to create a non-judgmental and safe therapeutic space.
She believes that we have the ability within ourselves to work through challenging life events or destructive thought patterns. However, it is understandable that during these stressful times it can seem impossible to think positively. Áines therapeutic approach encourages individuals to discuss their challenges in order to increas their awareness, and unearth resources within themselves to promote change.
